Seldom seen in circulation in the East, the Philadelphia Mint struck another limited mintage of just 2,000 three dollar gold pieces in 1872. This eye-catching specimen is among the finest of the survives with only two PCGS examples graded finer. A patina of uniform wheat-gold presents across the reflective fields, typical for the date.
